Sydney Thunders roped in Pakistan's leggie Usman Qadir as a back-up for Tanveer Sangha

Sydney Thunder have signed up Pakistan legspinner Usman Qadir for the upcoming BBL as a cover for Tanveer Sangha, who is yet to make a comeback this season following a stress fracture of the back. Qadir becomes the team’s fourth overseas signing after Alex Hales, Rilee Rossouw and Fazalhaq Farooqi with a team able to field three in an XI. Qadir, has previously played for Perth Scorchers.

Thunder head coach Andrew Gilchrist said, “Usman joins us with plenty of experience, having represented Pakistan, and playing in T20 leagues around the world,” “Importantly, he has firsthand knowledge of Australian conditions, he played for Western Australia and South Australia’s Futures League, so he knows what to expect.”
