India batter Shreyas Iyer will undergo surgery on his injured back and will therefore miss the entire 2023 IPL, and the World Test Championship (WTC) final in June. Shreyas Iyer who got injured during the Bangladesh series was ruled out of Sri Lanka series but he was included in the last two test matches against Australia. He was in the squad for the last test but didn’t turned out to bat in the first innings due to some discomfort in his back. He was ruled out of the remaining of the series. He was expected to be back with the Kolkata Knight Riders team for IPL 2023 in the second phase of the tournament.
He will be travelling overseas for the surgery after seeking guidance from medical experts and is expected to be out for at least three months before he resumes training.
