On this day in 1989, Sachin Tendulkar hit his first half-century in Test cricket against Pakistan in Karachi. Sachin Tendulkar and Sanjay Manjrekar put on a partnership of 143 runs for the fifth wicket. Sachin Tendulkar was just 16 when he hit his first half-century in test cricket and held the record for the youngest player to do so.
Over the years, Tendulkar became one of the greatest cricketers worldwide and got the nickname ‘Master Blaster’. He became the only player to hit 100 centuries in International Cricket. He is the first player to hit a double-century in ODI cricket. He aggregates 34,357 international runs and the player beside him is Kumar Sangakkara from Sri Lanka.
Tendulkar is the 6th Indian cricketer to be included in the ICC hall of fame in 2019.
