On this day in 2001 India became 2nd team to win a test after enforcing follow-on

On this day in 2001:

India became the second team to win a test after being enforced a follow-on after England who had done it twice before India. India won the test match against Australia in Kolkata on this day after Australia enforced a follow-on on India. Things weren’t looking too good for India when the fourth day of the second Test began in Kolkata. Also, in this match, VVS Laxman registered his career best in test cricket of 281 along with Rahul Dravid who scored 180. In the second innings, from 242/4 VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid took the score to 608/5 which is still considered one of the best partnerships in test cricket. Earlier in the match, Harbhajan took the first Test hat-trick by an Indian, on his way to 13 wickets in the match. But despite his, and Dravid’s, phenomenal efforts, this will always be remembered as Laxman’s match.
