Leicestershire has signed India batter Ajinkya Rahane for the 2023 season, the county confirmed on Tuesday (January 31). This will be Rahane’s second stint in County cricket after he represented Hampshire in 2019.
Rahane will be available for eight matches in the County Championship as he is set to join the county after the conclusion of his stint with Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. The 34-year-old will also be available to play the entire One-Day Cup competition given he is currently out of favour with the national side.
“I’m really happy to be joining Leicestershire for the upcoming season,” Rahane said. “I can’t wait to play alongside my new teammates and explore the vibrant city of Leicester.”
