India Women kick started their T20 World Cup journey with a win against Pakistan

Pakistan 149/4 in 20 overs (Bismah Maroof 68*, Ayesha Naseem 43*; Radha Yadav 2/21) lost to India 151/3 in 19 overs (Jemimah Rodrigues 53*, Shafali Varma 33, Richa Ghosh 31*; Nashra Sandhu 2/15) by 7 wickets

Pakistan’s run rate was below six by the halfway mark and to make matters worse, Radha struck again to reduce them to 68/4. Pakistan finally managed to drag that run rate past six only in the 15th over as they had a massive task ahead of them in the final five. Bismah Mahroof and Ayeesha played beautifully in order to revive their team’s total to 149. Both remained unbeaten but still weren’t enough to beat India. Both the teams fought hard but India executed their plan well and remained calm even when the required rate was past 10 at a moment when Kaur lost her wicket. The calm approach from Jemimah Rodrigues scored an unbeaten fifty along with a cameo inning from Richa Gosh helped India cross the line and start their journey with a winning note.
