Aaron Phangiso has been reported for suspected illegal bowling action

Aaron Phangiso who plays for Johannesburg in the SA20 league has been reported for suspected illegal bowling action during one of the matches against Pretoria Capitals in the ongoing inaugural edition of the SA20 league. This is the second time he has been reported for suspected illegal bowling action. Previously he was reported while playing for Lions against Warriors in the Momentum One Day Cup in 2016 but was cleared after undergoing remedial work on his action.

As per the tournament’s ‘Suspected Illegal Bowling Action’ guideline, the issue will be passed on to the Bowling Action Panel, which would judge the matter and come up with a conclusion. The panel consists of match referee representative Gerrie Pienaar, former South Africa seamer Vernon Philander, and CSA’s High-Performance Manager Vincent Barnes.

The panel has seven days to review the video footage available from the concerned game, before arriving at the next step. However, Phangiso can continue to bowl for Super Kings in the intervening period.
